First scene begun!
Here’s the text as a teaser:
“Ignatious, starchild. You are summoned to the Tower. Prepare immediately. You have thirty minutes.”
“Joelle, farstrider. You are summoned to the Tower. Prepare immediately. You are have thirty minutes.”
“Anumar, farstrider. You are summoned to the Tower. Prepare immediately. You are have thirty minutes.”
Chimes sound insistently from the pale blue crystal panel, gradually increasing in volume until movement and changes in breathing and essence respiration are detected, then Chrysalis’ neutral voice speaks. Her face, as always, is serenely blank and glowing softly from within the panel.
The windows and sky-prisms that bring light deep within the caverns where Diamond Tower’s citizens reside are still dark with night. The constellation of the Guardians was just rising over the horizon, , its arrangement of stars shining brightly against the inky blackness of the night sky. Occasionally a pink-gold shimmer of aurora would crawl their way across, casting arcane light through the glass domes above.
Snow is piled shoulder-deep against the outside of the domes, up at the rim of the canyons where the adamant glass starts and the living stone of the city walls and holds end. Wind whips across the undulating terrain, swirling snow and frost into decorative patterns across the domes for a moment before the ancient maintaining magics scrub the surfaces pristine again.
Within the domes, the city is quiet and peaceful, its deep warmth and lulling humidity redolent with the fragrances of night-blooming flowers. Nocturnal chirps of birds and insects are slow and sleepy, a drone of ever present native music.
